There are three easy steps for developing a Post-Hip-Hop Small Group:

1. Assemble a core group of youth and ask them if they will invite others from school, sports, or their neighborhood to participate in a Small Group. It’s vital to find a group leader and five to twelve young people to participate. Please feel free to incorporate music and food.

2. Once everyone in the group has a copy of this book, begin by reading the hip-hop drama The Chronicles of Jamal: Hoops, Hip-Hop & Holy Hustling. The story’s protagonist is a young man named Jamal, who is dealing with getting his girlfriend pregnant, losing a basketball scholarship, and the death of his brother. Jamal finds himself doing jury duty and facing having to make some critical decisions about his life. The story is divided into twenty parts, with each part illustrating one of twenty principles. Each principle is further explained in the Study Guide in the second part of the book.

3. After reading the narrative, go through the Study Guide together with the Small Group. There are eleven small group activities throughout the Study Guide, plenty of Bible studies, as well as additional activities for the group to do together.

"This wise and visionary book is so badly needed in our time. Don't miss it!"

Dr. Cornel West
University Professor, Princeton University

“It is encouraging to see through books like The Post Hip-Hop Generation that the principles that made America into a great nation are still alive and well. I hope many others will add their voices to that of Kymo Dockett concerning important societal issues.”

Benjamin S. Carson Sr. MD
Author of “Gifted Hands,” “Think Big” and “The Big Picture”

“As a lover of Hip-Hop, I believe that Kymo’s book The Post Hip-Hop Generation: 20 Things You Should Know encourages the reader to find the redemptive qualities in one of America’s most precious art forms, Hip-Hop. His ability to intertwine Hip-Hop’s roots into the fabric of American culture is not only creative, but “dope,” and should not only be read by Hip-Hop novices, but anyone who has ever bounced to a Hip-Hop beat.”

LaMarr Darnell Shields, M.Ed.
President of the Urban Leadership Institute

“I am indeed inspired by Kymo Dockett’s work on the [Post Hip-Hop Generation:] 20 Things You Should Know regarding the Hip-Hop generation. I am especially inspired because I have known Brother Dockett as a young man who grew up in the Black Movement and who has now matured in his development connecting the Hip-Hop generation to our struggle for Black liberation. This is an excellent addition to my library.”

Dr. Conrad Worrill
Director of The Center for Inner City Studies

“Kymo does a thorough job of telling the story of a hip-hopper, then pointing out some key points leaders should look at. I appreciate his creative approach with the additional subpoints that tie in culture, history, spirituality and stats that back it up.”

Tommy Kyllonen aka Urban D.
Lead Pastor, Author of Un.orthodox, Hip-Hop Artist

“Reading the 20 principles confirmed my task as an educator who has day to day contact with the Post Hip-Hop Generation. The Chronicles of Jamal gave great insight into the minds and every day hardships of young African-American men. I now plan to revise my history curriculum so that the students will analyze how various generations and groups of people contributed to the growth of America and how they dealt with the problems they faced in that process.”

Flora D. Graham
Small Creations Chairperson
Spoken Word Artist "Ms. Nterpretation"

"As a pastor in urban St. Louis, I'm more than a little ashamed of my severe ignorance when it comes to the hip-hop generation. Like many of my generation (the over-50 gang), I've found that I'm over my head when trying to understand what it's all about. Kymo Dockett has done a great job at educating people like me as well as those in the hip-hop culture who may think they have a lot of knowledge about the Hip-Hop Generation. His perspective is amazing and his imaginative, creative presentation is nothing short of enlightening. Kymo offers real-life opportunities for addressing real-life situations. It is apparent that his research and experience are extensive and that he should be trusted as a 'voice crying in the wilderness'. I consider this a must-read for anyone with a desire to connect with this most important generation."

Harry E. Walls, III
Pastor, Christian Fellowship Baptist Church

“This book offers the next generation hope in what seems like an increasing hopeless and godless world. The author does an excellent job communicating some timeless truths that will help and encourage young people to be a part of the solution.”

Bertha Gilkey Bonds
Black Alliance for Educational Options
State Coordinator (Missouri)

The Post Hip Hop Generation is a great weapon to influence a generation who has seemed to have lost a sense of direction. Overall, this book does an outstanding job helping the reader understand the times we live in so we can effectively reach the Post Hip-Hop generation.”

Betty L. Thompson
Former Missouri State Representative

“The book was very insightful and a must for parents and anyone looking to get information on urban youth hip hop culture. Finally a creative approach to utilizing the knowledge of this pioneer writer to offset and combat the destructive ills of music that has been use to enlighten and destroy the fiber of urban culture. This book is a must read.”

Elwood Jones
Urban Street Level Music
Director of Young Life PG. County Maryland

“I recommend this book as a "must have" gift for any hip hop head period! It is a good seed to hand out to unbelievers. It does not come off preachy but this book definitely does speak to the heart of the Hip hoppers. Kymo is a trusted voice in our generation.”

Jefro Mose
Urban Minister in Kenya Africa

“With Kymo’s book The Post Hip-Hop Generation, he uses clever storytelling to present several principles for reaching this up & coming generation who need to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ. This book is a must have if you are serious about evangelism and reaching the youth of today and tomorrow. Yes, the message is the same, but we cannot rely on the same tactics to reach this new generation; The Post Hip-Hop Generation puts the tools in your hand so that you can be ready to use them to reach this new world for Christ.”

LaRosa Johnson
President & Founder -- Trailblazin' Ministries
